Introduction:
As said by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, 2nd president of India – “Library is the heart of an institution” made the presence of a library inevitable in all institutions and when it comes to an academic institution library plays a vital role as an indispensable tool of the learning process; starting from the toddler-school life to the higher education-colleges till the research and scholar phase and beyond.
Five Laws of Library Science
Father of Library Science in India Dr. S.R. Ranganathan gave the Five Laws of Library Science a theory that he proposed in 1931 detailing the principles of operation of the library system. Many librarians around the world accept the law as the foundation of their philosophy.
- First Law: Books are for use.
- Second Law: Every reader his or her book.
- Third Law: Every book has its reader.
- Fourth Law: Save the time of the reader.
- Fifth Law: A library is a growing organism.
The library considered the heart of the Indore Institute of Law (IIL), serves as a resource center and a perfect hub for efficient dissemination of knowledge.
